Moses Blesses the Twelve Tribes

33:1And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death. 2And he said: the LORD came from Sinai, and rose from Seir to them; he shone forth from mount Paran, and he came from myriads of holiness, from his right hand a fire of decree to them.

3Yes, he loves the peoples, all his holy ones are in your hand; and they were placed at your feet, he bears of your words.

4A Torah Moses commanded us, an inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.

5And he became king in Yeshurun, when the heads of the people gathered, the tribes of Israel together.

6Let Reuben live, and not die, and let his men be a number.

7And this for Judah, and he said: Hear, the LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people; his hands contended for him, and a help against his adversaries you shall be.

9Who says of his father and of his mother, "I have not seen him"; and his brothers he did not recognize, and his sons he did not know; for they kept your word, and your covenant they guard.

10They teach your judgments to Jacob, and your Torah to Israel; they put incense in your nostrils, and whole burnt offering upon your altar.

11Bless, O LORD, his strength, and the work of his hands accept; smite the loins of those who rise against him, and those who hate him, that they rise not.

12Of Benjamin he said: The beloved of the LORD dwells in safety upon him; he shelters over him all the day, and between his shoulders he dwells.

15And from the top of the ancient mountains, and from the precious things of the everlasting hills;

16And from the precious things of the earth and its fullness, and the favor of him who dwells in the bush; let it come to the head of Joseph, and to the crown of the head of the prince among his brothers.

17The firstborn of his ox, majesty is his, and the horns of a wild ox are his horns; with them he gores the peoples together, the ends of the earth; and they are the myriads of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

20And of Gad he said: Blessed is he who enlarges Gad; like a lioness he dwells, and tears the arm, also the crown of the head.

21And he saw the first part for himself, for there the portion of a ruler was reserved; and the heads of the people came, the righteousness of the LORD he did, and his judgments with Israel.

24And of Asher he said: Blessed above sons is Asher; let him be favored of his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil.

25Iron and bronze are your bars, and as your days, so your strength.

26There is none like God, O Yeshurun, who rides the heavens as your help, and in his majesty the skies.

29Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, who is the sword of your majesty! And your enemies shall come cringing to you, and you shall tread upon their high places.

The Death of Moses

34:1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which is over against Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, the Gilead as far as Dan; 2And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the hinder sea; 3And the Negev, and the plain, the valley of Jericho, the city of palms, as far as Zoar.

4And the LORD said to him: This is the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying: To your seed I will give it; I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but there you shall not pass over.

5And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the mouth of the LORD. 6And he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor; and no man knew his burial place to this day.

7And Moses was a son of a hundred and twenty years at his death; his eye was not dim, nor his freshness fled. 8And the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; and the days of weeping of the mourning for Moses were ended.

9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the sons of Israel listened to him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses. 10And there has not arisen a prophet again in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face; 11In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land; 12And in all the strong hand, and in all the great terror, which Moses did in the eyes of all Israel.

God Instructs Joshua

1:1And it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD said to Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, saying: 2"Moses My servant is dead; and now arise, cross over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the children of Israel.

3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread on, to you I have given it, as I spoke to Moses. 4From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

5No man shall stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you, nor forsake you.

6Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give to them.

7Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the Torah which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn aside from it to the right or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8This book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall prosper.

9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous; do not be terrified, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Joshua Takes Charge

10And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying: 11"Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are to cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you to possess it."

12And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said, saying: 13"Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying: the LORD your God is giving you rest, and will give you this land. 14Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall dwell in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall cross over armed before your brothers, all the mighty men of valor, and you shall help them; 15until the LORD gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God is giving them; then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise."

16And they answered Joshua, saying: "All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17According to all that we listened to Moses, so will we listen to you; only may the LORD your God be with you, as He was with Moses. 18Every man who rebels against your mouth and does not listen to your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous."

The Transfiguration

9:28And it came about some eight days after these words that He took Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And as He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. 30And behold, two men were talking with Him — Moses and Elijah — 31who, appearing in glory, spoke of His departure, which He was about to fulfill at Jerusalem.

32Now Peter and those who were with him were weighed down with sleep; when they became fully awake they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him. 33And as they were parting from Him, Peter said to Yeshua, "Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three shelters, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah" — not knowing what he was saying.

34While he was saying these things a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son — listen to Him!"

36And when the voice had spoken, Yeshua was found alone; and they kept silent and reported to no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
