Psalms 120

1A Song of the Ascents. To YHWH in my distress I called, and He answered me.

2YHWH, deliver my soul (nephesh) from a lip of falsehood, from a deceitful tongue.

3What shall He give to you, and what shall He add to you, deceitful tongue?

4Sharpened arrows of a mighty one, with coals of brooms.

5Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell with the tents of Kedar!

6Long has my soul (nephesh) dwelt with one who hates peace.

7I am peace, but when I speak, they are for war.
