Psalms 114

1When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange tongue,

2Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominions.

3The sea saw and fled; the Jordan turned backward.

4The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like sons of the flock.

5What is to you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn backward?

6O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like sons of the flock?

7From before the Lord, writhe, O earth, from before the God of Jacob,

8who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.
