Psalms 8

1For the leader, upon the Gittith. A psalm of David.

2O YHWH our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, you who have set your splendor upon the heavens!

3From the mouth of babes and sucklings you have founded strength, because of your adversaries, to cause the enemy and the avenger to cease.

4When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have established;

5What is man that you remember him, and the son of man (adam) that you visit him?

6And you have made him lack a little from God, and with glory and honor you crown him.

7You make him rule over the works of your hands; all you have set under his feet:

8Sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field;

9The bird of the heavens and the fish of the sea, whatever passes the paths of the seas.

10O YHWH our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
