Psalms 54

1To the chief musician, with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David.

2When the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "Is not David hiding himself with us?"

3O God, by Your name save me, and by Your might judge me.

4O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

5For strangers have risen up against me, and ruthless ones have sought my soul (nephesh); they have not set God before them. Selah.

6Behold, God is a helper for me; my Lord (Adonai) is among the upholders of my soul (nephesh).

7He will return the evil to those who lie in wait for me; in Your truth cut them off.

8With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, YHWH, for it is good.

9For from all distress He has delivered me, and my eye has looked upon my enemies.
