Psalms 144

1Of David. Blessed be YHWH my rock, who trains my hands for combat, my fingers for war;

2my kindness and my stronghold, my high tower and my deliverer for me; my shield, and in him I have taken refuge; who subdues my people under me.

3YHWH, what is man (adam) that you take knowledge of him, the son of mortal man that you regard him?

4Man (adam) is like a breath; his days are like a shadow that passes.

5YHWH, bow your heavens and come down; touch the mountains, and let them smoke.

6Flash lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them.

7Stretch out your hands from on high; set me free and deliver me from many waters, from the hand of the sons of the foreigner;

8whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9God, a new song I will sing to you; upon a lyre of ten strings I will make music to you.

10who gives deliverance to kings, who frees David his servant from the evil sword.

11Set me free and deliver me from the hand of the sons of the foreigner, whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood;

12that our sons may be like plants grown up in their youth; our daughters like corner-pillars, carved in the pattern of a palace;

13our storehouses full, supplying from kind to kind; our flocks bringing forth thousands, ten thousands in our fields;

14our oxen well-laden; no breach and no going forth, and no outcry in our broad places.

15Happy is the people for whom it is so; happy is the people whose God is YHWH.
