Psalms 129

1A Song of the Ascents. Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth — let Israel now say —

2greatly have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.

3Upon my back the plowers plowed; they made long their furrows.

4YHWH is righteous; He has cut the cords of the wicked.

5Let them be ashamed and turned backward, all who hate Zion.

6Let them be like grass of the roofs, which withers before it is drawn out;

7with which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor the binder of sheaves his bosom.

8And those who pass by do not say, "The blessing of YHWH be upon you; we bless you in the name of YHWH."
