Psalms 12

1For the leader, upon the Sheminith. A psalm of David.

2Save (yasha), O YHWH, for the godly one has ceased; for the faithful have failed from the sons of man (adam).

3They speak falsehood, a man (ish) with his neighbor; with a lip of smooth things, with a heart and a heart they speak.

4May YHWH cut off all smooth lips, the tongue that speaks great things;

5Who have said, "By our tongue we prevail; our lips are with us—who is lord over us?"

6"Because of the despoiling of the poor, because of the groaning of the needy, now I will arise," says YHWH, "I will set in safety the one he puffs at."

7The sayings of YHWH are pure sayings, silver refined in a furnace on the earth, purified seven times.

8You, O YHWH, will keep them; you will preserve us from this generation forever.

9On every side the wicked walk about, when vileness is exalted among the sons of man (adam).
