Ezekiel 15

1And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:

2Son of man (adam), what is the wood of the vine more than any wood — the branch that was among the trees of the forest?

3Is wood taken from it to make for any work? Or do they take from it a peg to hang upon it any vessel?

4Behold, it is given to the fire for fuel; its two ends the fire has consumed, and its middle is charred; is it fit for any work?

5Behold, when it was whole, it could not be made into work; how much less, when fire has consumed it and it is charred, can it yet be made into work?

6Therefore thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I have given the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

7And I will set my face against them; out of the fire they have come, and the fire shall consume them; and you shall know that I am YHWH, when I set my face against them.

8And I will make the land a desolation, because they have committed a trespass, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
